Pandawa Beach Guide 2026: Entry Fee and Opening Hours

Pandawa Beach costs about IDR 15,000 per adult to enter and is open daily from around 7am to 7pm. That makes it one of the best-value beach days in Bali. Below is everything you need for your visit in 2026: prices, opening hours, how to get there, what to do, and where to stay nearby.

What Is Pandawa Beach?

Pandawa Beach (Pantai Pandawa) is a white-sand beach on the southern coast of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, in the village of Kutuh, a short drive from Nusa Dua. For years it was hidden behind tall limestone hills, which is why locals called it the “secret beach”. Around 2012 a road was cut straight through the cliffs, and the beach opened to visitors.

That road is now the beach’s signature. As you drive down, white cliff walls rise on both sides, and six large statues sit in carved alcoves in the rock. They show the five Pandawa brothers from the Mahabharata epic and their mother, Dewi Kunti, which is where the beach gets its name.

At the bottom you’ll find a long stretch of soft sand, clear turquoise water, and calm waves that make it one of the better swimming beaches in South Bali. The village runs the beach as a community-managed site, so your entry fee goes back into its upkeep.

Pandawa Beach Entrance Fee 2026

The entrance fee is paid at the gate at the top of the cliff road. Payment is cash only, so bring small notes in rupiah.

Pandawa Beach Opening Hours

Pandawa Beach is open every day, roughly 7:00am to 7:00pm (Bali time, WITA). There is no closing day, though access can change on major Balinese holidays such as Nyepi, the Day of Silence, when the whole island shuts down.

How to Get to Pandawa Beach

Pandawa Beach is in Kutuh, South Kuta, about 20 km from Ngurah Rai International Airport. In normal traffic the drive takes around 30 to 40 minutes.

  • Private driver or airport transfer: the easiest option, especially on arrival day.
  • Scooter: the roads are smooth and well signposted, and parking is cheap.
  • Grab or Gojek: fine for getting there, but pickups aren’t allowed inside the beach area. Expect to walk about 500 m back to the main gate to meet your driver.
  • From a villa nearby: if you stay in Kutuh, the beach is only minutes away, so you can go early before the tour buses arrive.

Best Time to Visit Pandawa Beach

  • Time of day: go between 7am and 9am for soft light, quiet sand and the best photos of the cliff road. Late afternoon turns the cliffs golden.
  • Season: the dry season, April to September, brings clear skies and calm seas. The rainy season, December to March, has sudden showers but fewer visitors.
  • Tides: at low tide, rocks and seaweed beds are exposed and swimming is harder. Check a tide table and aim for mid to high tide if you want to swim.
  • Days: weekdays are quieter. Weekends and Indonesian public holidays get busy with domestic visitors.

Things to Do at Pandawa Beach

Swim in calm, clear water. The western half of the beach has a flagged swimming zone with lifeguards. Waves here are gentler than at most South Bali beaches, which makes it a good choice for families.

Paddle a kayak. Colourful two-person kayaks line the shore and can be rented by the hour. The water is clear enough to see the sandy bottom.

Photograph the cliff road and statues. Stop on the way down to see the six Pandawa statues up close. The carved “Pantai Pandawa” sign in the cliff is the classic landmark photo.

Find the three-beach viewpoint. A short trail from the eastern end leads to a ledge overlooking Pandawa, Timbis and Gunung Payung beaches together. Few visitors make the walk.

Watch the paragliders. Timbis, just east of Pandawa, is a well-known takeoff spot. Tandem flights can be booked with local operators.

Eat at a beach warung. Simple stalls along the promenade serve nasi goreng, mie goreng, grilled corn, fresh coconuts and cold drinks.

See the seaweed farms. Kutuh has a long history of seaweed farming. At low tide you can often see the plots and farmers at work.

Tips for Your Visit

  • Bring cash in small notes. The gate, parking and most stalls don’t take cards.
  • Pack reef shoes if you plan to explore at low tide.
  • Bring sunscreen and a hat. There is little natural shade on the sand.
  • Head to the eastern end of the beach for a quieter spot away from the tour groups.
  • Keep valuables with you while you swim or kayak.

Where to Stay Near Pandawa Beach

The best way to enjoy Pandawa is to stay close enough to arrive before the crowds. Pandawa Quarters is a collection of just five private pool villas in Kutuh, minutes from Pandawa Beach and Melasti Beach and a short drive from Nusa Dua.

Choose a One Bedroom Villa for couples, or a Two or Three Bedroom Villa for families and friends. Every villa has its own pool, and guests booking direct enjoy daily breakfast and complimentary airport transfer (terms apply).
